MEET OUR LEAD PASTORS

Jimmy & Judith Hernandez

In July of 2019, Jimmy and Judith Hernandez stepped into their calling as Lead Pastors of New Life Church—a church pastored by Jimmy’s parents for over 30 years and a place he has considered home his entire life.

Born and raised in Georgetown, Jimmy has been part of New Life Church from the very beginning. He and Judith began their journey together in 2000 when they were married, and today they are raising two incredible young men, Christian and Cameron, right here in the city they love and call home.

Jimmy and Judith have over 20 years of ministry experience. They are passionate about growing God's kingdom and building the local church in a way that is authentic, relational, and creative—sharing the hope of Jesus with families across the street, in their city and around the world. Their greatest joy is helping people grow in faith, discover their purpose, and feel at home in the local community.


OUR BELIEFS

What We Believe

We believe there is only one living and true God, eternal with unlimited power, Creator of all things, and in the one God, are three distinct persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. 

Ephesians 4:6; Matthew 28:19; 1 John 5:7

We believe that the historical Jesus Christ is God incarnate –– made flesh through the Virgin Mary, fully God and fully man; that He is the only Savior who suffered physical death through crucifixion, not only for original sin imputed to man, but also for the actual sins of man, was buried, and resurrected to life. 

John 1:14; Luke 1:27-35; 1 Peter 3:18

We believe the Holy Spirit is God’s powerful promise, poured out at Pentecost and sent by Jesus after His ascension. The Spirit empowers us to boldly share the Gospel with the world and live as witnesses of Christ’s resurrection. Through a variety of spiritual gifts, the Holy Spirit strengthens and equips the Church, builds up believers, and confirms the life-changing power of the Gospel in every generation.

We believe and accept the Bible alone as the infallible Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit; the final authority on all matters of faith and life, superior to conscience and human reason; to which nothing can be added or taken away, which is the power of God unto Salvation to the Believers. 

2 Peter 1:21; 2 Timothy 3:16; Romans 1:16

We believe in the existence of Satan, a fallen angel of God and organizer of evil spirits seeking to control mankind, who is defeated by the Person and work of Jesus Christ. 

Isaiah 14:12; 4 Peter 2:4; Ephesians 6:11-18; Daniel 10:12, 13

We believe man was created good and upright in the likeness and image of God, but by voluntary transgression, fell and the only hope is in Jesus Christ. 

Genesis 1: 26-31; 3:1-7; Romans 5:12-23

We believe in the Salvation of man through the new birth by grace alone, through faith alone, through Christ alone. 

John 3:16; 1 John 5:11; John 3:5

We believe disciples of Jesus Christ are baptized in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as a sign of God’s unconditional love, and a seal of burial with Christ observed by all who have repented of their sins and believe that Christ as Savior died for their sins.

We believe in the sacrament of Holy Communion consisting of the elements of bread and the fruit of the vine, symbolizing the spiritual body and blood of our Lord and remembrance of His suffering and death.
